Tipestry adds a meta layer to the Internet that allows users to interact and obtain crypto wherever they are online. The main component of this platform is Tipestry.com, a web portal that effectively adds comment sections to websites where people can tip a comment and contribute something to a site that is currently discussed.
Tipestry Go is a real enhancer application that allows users leave comments in certain physical locations and search for digital coins hidden around the world. Browser add-ons that can add more chat and micropayment features are also being developed. There are three related issues that we aim to address with this project: first is that the business model that applies to social media platforms is selling their users' personal information to third parties, usually without users understanding what they are giving in terms of privacy and security. Second is the difficulty for content creators to get financial benefits from their work, which is partly responsible for the decline overall journalistic standards and the proliferation of clickbait (trapping) content.
Third is the tendency for large companies to push the agenda - both commercial and political - by censoring or completely disabling user feedback on their sites. Another goal of this project is to provide crypto new uses and give coins to many people without requiring detailed technical understanding.
We believe that unlimited tips, in particular, provide a natural introduction to digital currencies and will help us to adopt them.
Tipestry Platform
The Tipestry project started in 2014. The basic goal is to make Bitcoin tips easier and allow users to comment on any website. The first iteration was a browser add-on that entered alpha testing in 2015 and the second was a mobile application that entered testing in 2016. Based on initial feedback, both versions were canceled for the sake of
current implementation - web-based version of Tipestry.com, which enters alpha testing in 2017.
The Tipestry Go companion application began development and entered testing in 2017 and was released at the Apple Store in early 2018. Where Tipestry.com allows users to comment on any website, Tipestry Go allows users to comment on any physical location.
The Tippening, a site for voters to help shape platform policies and select or delete moderators, is scheduled to be released in early 2019. Browser add-ons and browser applications that initially started the project are planned to be reintroduced by the end of 2019.
Tipestry.com effectively adds a comment section to other websites. Some possible uses include:
1. Find out what people say about certain websites. Is the site legitimate - is it fraud, phishing, has the information been updated, is that fake news? Sometimes it's hard to say only based on site content or based on search engine rankings. Seeing at a glance what others say can be used as a useful guide.
2. Discuss the site where the comment section was deleted. Many news organizations have removed their comment section in recent years. The reason that is often used is that the quality of comments is generally too low if compared to the cost of hosting them, although that may be true in some cases, but with that they easily prevent readers from voicing their opinions that contradict or criticize the media themselves.
3. Comments without having to register a new account on each site. Registering on Tipestry.com requires only an email address and password, no need to send any personal information, and allows you to be able to make comments on millions of sites.
4. Discuss topics where there is no clear place to do it. For example, if I want to share my thoughts about rutabaga, but there is no place dedicated to that subject in my language, I can make www.rutabagas.com in the Tipestry and talk about it there.
5. Discuss a very specific topic. After watching a movie, you can sometimes find a forum to discuss it (although IMDB now turns off the message column). However, what if you want to discuss certain TV episodes, or certain songs? With Tipestry you can go to the Wikipedia page or a summary of certain episodes or the lyrics page for a particular song and discuss it there.
6. Find and share information about the release of new products. When software
updated and you find a bug, it's often difficult to find it through years of forum news about the software for find a discussion that is relevant to your problem. Finding solutions to your device's problems through Tipestry is the best way to find the latest and most relevant discussions about your problem.
Tipestry Go
Similar to how Tipestry.com allows people to comment on any website, Tipestry Go allows users to leave comments on any physical location. Users can leave comments on their current location and see comment feeds made in an adjustable range. Or, they can change their location by selecting a place
different on the map screen, which allows them to engage in discussions that are located outside their current area.
In general, messages / news left at the user's location can now only be seen by your friends and messages / news left on the map can be seen by anyone, although this can be adjusted at the time of making a message / news. We will also add the ability for users to create posts that are only visible to certain users on their friends list in the future.
Tipcoin and Token Tipestry
We use two tokens to drive the Tipestry - Tipcoin (TIPC) and Tipestry Token (TIP) ecosystem. Both are made using the ERC-20 Ethereum standard. We can replace the TIP with ERC-888 tokens in the future if the format proves to be more effective for dividend payments.
The ownership of Tipcoins partially determines the power of voting for policy and moderation of Tipestry content. This will initially be provided as part of airdrop and campaign and then given as a reward from time to time for active users and moderators of Tipestry. We will never sell this token for money for two reasons. First, because selling the token indirectly means selling the power of voting that will go against the project's objectives. Second, it is legally possible to help us in terms of security and therefore we limit its distribution in the United States. 1,000,000,000 Tipcoins have been created to reward prize hunters, posters and Tipestry moderators.
In addition to the ownership of Tipcoin, the power of voting will be weighed by the status of the owner's account. Account status will be determined by a combination of factors including account age, number of tips and likes received, and certain other factors that are kept confidential and are being designed to prevent system gambling.
The reason for the token owner must be measured by the status of the account because people can buy tokens in the market freely and use them to buy unlimited power over site governance. Preventing tokens from being traded is an ineffective solution because it will eliminate financial incentives to vote in the interests of the platform - token value
which cannot be exchanged, and because it's a platform benchmark, it won't be a problem for the owner.
Tipestry tokens will be sold in token sales events to help cover the costs of running this platform. With this the owner will distribute their Tipestry crypto income within a certain time, for example the fees collected from tipping will sometimes be converted to Ether and then sent to the TIP owner. One Tipestry Token will also be redeemable for one month Premium Tipestry account, an advanced version of the usual Tipestry account. 1,000,000,000 Tipestry Tokens have been made so far.
Token Sale
50% of the Tipestry Tokens will be sold in the token sale. 35% will be saved by the company and 15% will be sold to the initial investor and given to the founders. Sales tokens will have a soft cap of $ 1,000,000 USD and a hard stamp of $ 20,000,000 USD.
